CeDRI is pleased to announce the approval of the VCardioAI project – Intelligent Cardiovascular Screening using Vectorcardiography – under the ‘HEALTH + SCIENCE: Exploratory Projects 2025’ call for proposals from the Foundation for Science and Technology. 🔬 The initiative aims to develop a portable cardiovascular diagnostic system that combines vectorcardiography and artificial intelligence to support the early detection of cardiac abnormalities. The aim is to facilitate access to cardiovascular screening, particularly in inland regions with limited access to specialist healthcare. 🤝 The project brings together researchers from CeDRI, the UPB School of Health and ULSNE EPE, and also benefits from the collaboration of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Porto. CeDRI researcher Romeu Sequeira participates in IEEE AICT 2026 Romeu Sequeira, researcher at the Centre for Research in Digitalization and Intelligent Robotics (CeDRI), participated in the 20th IEEE International Conference on Application of Information and Communication Technologies (IEEE AICT 2026), held from 14 to 16 October 2026 at ADA University in Baku, Azerbaijan. During the event, Romeu Sequeira presented the scientific paper “Forseti: A GitLab-Based Framework to Support Assessment of Individual Contributions in Collaborative Programming Assignments”, co-authored with José Exposto. The research introduces a GitLab-based platform designed to support the assessment of individual student contributions in collaborative programming projects. Fábio da Conceição Bretes da Costa Alegre, a student at the Polytechnic University of Bragança and a scholarship holder at the Centre for Research into Digitalisation and Intelligent Robotics (CeDRI), distinguished himself whilst representing São Tomé and Príncipe at the 46th Chess Olympiad, held in September 2026 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, finishing the competition in first place amongst the teams from FIDE Zone 4.3. Individually, Fábio scored 6 points from 9 games, with four wins, four draws and just one defeat, achieving the highest score on his team and securing São Tomé and Príncipe’s first FIDE Master title, a distinction that marks a new milestone for the São Toméan national team. CeDRI congratulates Fábio Costa Alegre on this achievement and on his contribution to chess in São Tomé and Príncipe. His journey is an example of dedication and perseverance for the academic community, demonstrating how education, research and sport can go hand in hand.

📊 Preliminary results of the ISAF Survey highlighted at CeDRI Industry Day! On 1 October 2026, during CeDRI Industry Day, held at UPB, the preliminary results of the Survey to Identify R&D+i Needs in the ISAF Sector in Northern Portugal were presented. This survey, carried out as part of the CLEVER project under the PREI-ISAF initiative, aims to map the actual R&D+i needs of companies in the Northern Region’s industrial sector, representing a crucial step towards channelling R&D+i efforts to where the regional business community needs them most.
