Blended Intensive Program in Internet of Things
Mittelhessen (THM) in Giessen, Germany, hosted the in-person phase of the Blended Intensive Program (BIP) in Internet of Things (IoT), an Erasmus+ initiative that combines online learning with short-term mobility.
The CeDRI - IPB was represented by six students from the School of Technology and Management (ESTIG), accompanied by professors Paulo Leitão and Luis Piardi. Prior to the mobility, the 22 participating students took part in online theoretical and practical classes, preparing for hands-on IoT projects presented and evaluated during the on-site week.
Highlighted projects included interactive touch screens, speech robots powered by LLMs, smart city lighting poles, and electronic price tags—all using IoT technologies.
The program involved four partner institutions: University of Jaén (Spain), IPB (Portugal), University of Zielona Góra (Poland), and THM (Germany), fostering a multicultural and collaborative learning environment.
In addition to academic activities, participants visited the Pfeiffer Vacuum factory, explored Frankfurt and Wetzlar, and ended the week with a social evening at the Paulaner beer garden.
