Course: "Introduction to IoT - Application Development with Node-RED and MQTT"

The DISRUPTIVE project, integrated in its training activities, organizes the course: "Introduction to IoT - Application Development with Node-RED and MQTT". In this course, the main IoT concepts and technologies will be introduced with emphasis on the development of practical applications using the Node-RED development platform and the MQTT communication protocol.


The registration period will be open from July 1 to July 18, 2021 and will be done through the following form:

The course has a duration of 8 hours divided into two online units of four hours each, the first will take place on July 20, 2021 at 2pm WET [Lisbon-Portugal] where there will be a presentation of the main concepts of IoT and the introduction of the Node-RED and MQTT development technologies. The second unit will be on July 21st 2021 at 2pm WET [Lisboa-PT] where several practical examples of IoT applications using the technologies presented will be presented and developed.


The videoconference will be held via Zoom Meeting. Instructors include IPB researchers Jonas Queiroz, Alexandre Júnior, Heitor Assumpção and Paulo Leitão.


Training Program:


Introduction of the main IoT concepts and technologies.

Presentation of the Node-RED platform for rapid development of IoT applications

Presentation of the MQTT communication protocol, used to exchange messages between nodes and IoT applications

Development of practical activities, using the presented technologies, with the support of the instructors

The event requires knowledge of programming logic to participate. The target audience are students of electrical engineering, computer science, mechanics, as well as enthusiasts and those interested in developing IoT applications.
