INDIN 2018

16th IEEE International Conference on Industrial Informatics (INDIN 2018)

The 16th IEEE International conference on Industrial Informatics (INDIN 2018) (https://web.fe.up.pt/~indin2018/), was held in Porto, Portugal, home of the celebrated Port Wine, from last 18 to 20 July. The conference attracted more than 190 academic and industry delegates from 24 countries. Prof. Mario Sousa of University of Porto and Prof. Paulo Leitao of Instituto Politécnico de Bragança served as General Co-Chairs for INDIN2018. The purpose of the IEEE INDIN international conference was to provide a forum for presentation and discussion of the state-of-art and future perspectives of industrial information technologies. Industry experts, researchers, academics and practitioners were gathering together to share ideas and experiences surrounding frontier technologies, breakthroughs, innovative solutions, research results, as well as initiatives related to industrial informatics and their applications. In particular, several researchers from CedRI have participated in the conference to present their last research developments.

CeDRI participated in the annual meeting of Portuguese researchers, Ciência 2018, Lisbon, Portugal, 4-6 July

Paulo Leitão presented the recent research work conducted by the centre in intelligent and predictive maintenance in the session ”Advanced Manufacturing no âmbito do programa MIT-Portugal”. See more information about the event in the webpage of Ciência 2018 {http://www.encontrociencia.pt}.



HUB4AGRI

HUB4AGRI

The Digital Innovation Hub for Agriculture, HUB4AGRI, was launched officially last 15th October in Lisbon in the facilities of Confagri. HUB4AGRI (http://hub4agri.com/) is coordinated by ISQ and comprises 15 members, being Instituto Politécnico de Bragança one of its members, represented by its two research centres, CeDRI – Research Centre in Digitalization and Intelligent Robotics and CIMO - Mountain Research Center. HUB4AGRI provides a large combination of services aiming the digital transformation of the agro value chain. In particular, the HUB4AGRI initiative aims to create a multi-sector cooperation network that promotes the connection between technology providers and the needs of the agricultural sector supporting innovation connected with digital decision support tools and R&D activities, serving as a one-stop shop for the provision through a European cooperation network.

National Meeting of the Portuguese Mathematical Society

CeDRI Members Organize the 2018 National Meeting of the Portuguese Mathematical Society

From July 9th to July 11th, the School of Technology and Management hosted the 2018 edition of the National Meeting of the Portuguese Mathematical Society - ENSPM 2018 (www.enspm2018.ipb.pt).

The Organizing Committee was chaired by the CeDRI Researcher João Paulo Almeida and integrated CeDRI researchers Ana Isabel Pereira, Florbela Pires Fernandes and collaborators António Duarte, Carla Geraldes, Carlos Balsa and Clara Vaz.

With a broad program spanning over 5 plenary sessions, 3 Courses and 25 Special Sessions including, for the first time, a Special Session dedicated to the theme "Mathematics for Industry", ENSPM 2018 represented a unique opportunity for more than 200 registered participants, among researchers, teachers, students and Mathematics professionals, to share ideas, experiences and knowledge, thus contributing to the development of Mathematics in Portugal, in all its areas.

cross-border R&D meeting

CeDRI R&D cross-border meeting

CeDRI organized on May 15th 2018 a R&D meeting with the participation of 12 groups of Spanish research centers, aiming to provide a forum for interaction, sharing and discussion of the main scientific, technological and social challenges that guide the activity of the scientific community in the cross-border region of Bragança and Castilla and Leon. The R&D groups in the areas of Information and Communication Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, Industrial Cyber-physical Systems, Robotics, Smart Cities and Optimization shared experiences and discuss possibilities for future cooperation and synergies.

PhD thesis: "Self-Reconfigurable Manufacturing Control based on Ontology-Driven Automation Agents"

Last 10th April 2018, Paulo Leitão has participated in the evaluation committee of the PhD thesis of Wilfried Lepuschitz, entitled "Self-Reconfigurable Manufacturing Control based on Ontology-Driven Automation Agents", at the Technischen Universität Wien - Fakultät für Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik, Austria.

DA.RE project

DA.RE project meets in Koper, Slovenia

Last February of 2018, the consortium of the DA.RE (Data Science Pathways to re-imagine education) project met in Koper, Slovenia, to discuss the on-going activities of the project. In particular, the discussion was centred in the development of the materials for the online and face-to-face courses related to data science. The DA.RE project is founded by the Erasmus + programme. From IPB, José Barbosa and Flávia Pires have attended the meeting.

GO0D MAN project

Review meeting of GO0D MAN project in Brussels

On 28th March, the GO0D MAN project has its first review meeting in Brussels, in the facilities of Regione Marche, aiming to evaluate the progress of the project activities. Paulo Leitão and José Barbosa have represented IPB in this meeting. The presentations and discussions covered the technical and transversal WPs, being the review meeting concluded with great satisfactions! A lot of work still need to be done for the second period of the project, stay tuned!!

Maintenance 4.0

Maintenance 4.0 Consortium meets in Bragança

Last March 9th, a consortium technical meeting of the Maintenance 4.0 project took place in Bragança to facilitate the on-going work related to the development of interfaces for the data collection. The first period of the meeting happened in the facilities of Instituto Politécnico de Bragança and was devoted to the specification and development of interfaces that will be implemented during the project. The second period of the meeting was realized in the Catraport facilities, where the case study was presented and some practical and technical issues were discussed.
